Children’s Ministries at Church of the Redeemer is on a co-mission to spiritually grow and nurture our children. What do we mean by “co-mission”? Scripturally, we are told that the two greatest commandments are to love our God with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our strength and to love others as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-40). Deuteronomy 6 says, “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” We are commanded to make loving God and loving others the top priorities of our lives on earth, and we are commanded to teach our children to do the same.
This co-mission of teaching love for God and love for others is at the heart of our vision for Children’s Ministries at Church of the Redeemer. In more specific terms, it means teaching our children to know God’s Word, nurturing their personal relationships with Jesus Christ, and engaging them in praise and worship. It means teaching our children to reach out to others in their families, in their church and in their communities. It means setting examples of Godly love and Christian responsibility for our children to follow.
We are about loving our children because we are first loved by Christ, and we are about teaching our children of Christ’s love for them as they learn to extend that love to others.
