Service Schedule Change and Parking
10:45 a.m. on Sundays
By Fr. Thomas McKenzie | March 2, 2011
For the month of March we will be shifting our second service 15 minutes later. This is an experiment which may or may not continue after March. We are trying this out in order to help with the congestion between our services. So….
Sunday School will begin at 10:45 a.m. Parents, please do not drop your kids at Sunday School before 10:40 a.m., as we cannot guarantee there will be a teacher in the room before then.
As you are probably aware, parking space has been in short supply at times in recent weeks, particularly as the 1st service is ending and the 2nd service is beginning – and particularly when we have something like the annual meeting, the FAM visit, and major services like Easter. For a church, this is a nice problem to have, but we are aware that this can be frustrating at times when you’re the one needing to park. The fact is that our property is small, and our choices limited.
So, in order to efficiently use the space that we have, and in some cases comply with Oak Hill codes, we would ask that you adhere to the following:

Notes on Parking:
As you are probably aware, parking space has been in short supply at times in recent weeks, particularly as the 1st service is ending and the 2nd service is beginning – and particularly when we have something like the annual meeting, the FAM visit, and major services like Easter. For a church, this is a nice problem to have, but we are aware that this can be frustrating at times when you’re the one needing to park. The fact is that our property is small, and our choices limited.
So, in order to efficiently use the space that we have, and in some cases comply with Oak Hill codes, we would ask that you adhere to the following:
- If at all possible, please avoid bringing more than one car per family on Sunday.
- When you park in the grass overflow area mentioned above, pretend you are in a parking lot and park close enough together to maximize the use of that space. A typical parking space is 9 feet wide, but some of ours are 8 feet. If you are the first one up there, always start parking at one end – never the middle – and try to park reasonably close the vehicle next to you. We have enough space on the grid to accommodate twenty-three 9-foot wide spaces – 12 on the south side and 11 on the side nearest our neighbor’s back yard. The closer together you park, the more we can accommodate up there. We would prefer not to mark the actual parking spaces, since we want to try to maintain a more natural look for that area.
- As you know, we also have parking in the grass along the side of the driveway leading to the back lot. Please try to follow the same rules parking in this area – start at one end and park reasonably close together to maximize use of that space.
- We also ask that you not park on the street around the church or the adjoining side streets – Oak Hill ordinances disallow parking on the street and require that all 4 wheels of a parked vehicle be off of the street.
