about us

A Prophetic Community with an Ancient Vision

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
       because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
        to release the oppressed,
To proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.        (Luke 4:18-19)

Roots

The Church of the Redeemer is firmly rooted in the ancient Christian faith, while seeking to live and proclaim this faith in a society of change.  We are an Anglican church.  We are part of the 77 million member, world-wide, Anglican Communion  We serve as a mission congregation of the Anglican Province of Rwanda, through the Anglican Mission in the Americas (AMiA).

By the grace of God, our orthodox and Bible-rooted faith and discipleship transforms our hearts and minds; while our commitment to love, community, outreach, and mission transforms our world.

Redemption

God has called us to live and proclaim Christ's redeeming love. What is redemption?  We define “redemption” as the gracious, loving power of the Almighty Father God found in the person of Jesus Christ to liberate people from bondage, to recreate them from the inside out, to give them a loving relationship with Himself, to place them in Christian community, and to mold them into proclaimers of liberation to others through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Worship

Our worship follows an ancient pattern which includes contemporary and traditional music, times of corporate and private prayer, hearing and responding to the Word of God, a Bible-based and relevant sermon, confession of sin, sharing God's peace with one another, and Holy Communion.

The entire worship experience is designed to allow us, individually and as a community, to encounter the Living God. In that encounter, we seek to bless the Lord and minister to Him.

People from a great variety of traditions and experiences find this form of worship both powerful and transformative. Our hope is that you will join us and see what we mean.
